FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fire Trucks move to new building !!

By Capt. John Blauch

 11/15/2000 -- Chardon Village, Ohio

A new era in local fire service protection occurred this week, as the Chardon Fire Department began moving rescue and fire vehicles to the new apparatus bays in the newly renovated station on Chardon Square.  While electrical and detail work is continuing at the facility, the trucks assumed their positions, to cut down on increased response times from a temporary building.  Response times from the temporary quarters at the abandoned Farinacci Buick car dealership was causing minor delays, as volunteers had to drive another mile to reach the trucks.  While the delays did not represent any immediate threat to the public, department officials wanted to lessen the response times.

It is expected that the renovation project will near completion by the end of 2000.  An open house will be held for the general public, as soon as all of the work is completed.  Department members have been donating a considerable amount of volunteer time complete some of the tasks involved in getting the new station ready for occupancy.
