Trauma Month/EMS Week highlight need for improved community awareness
5/01 -- City Of Chardon, Ohio National Trauma Awareness Month & National EMS Week (May 19-23) are appropriately placed in the month of May. This month is notoriously the busiest season for EMS providers, as the weather improves, and people begin taking more risks on highways, waterways, and outdoors. The Chardon Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind our residents and web readers of the three most important items for trauma prevention and summer safety: 1.) Buckle Up - It might be your last chance 2.) Don't Drink and Drive (or boat) 3.) Take care of our little ones. Children are often the innocent victims of our summer "fun". The last item can be enhanced with bike helmet use, safety town training, and proactive parents and educators.
