New Fire Engine Placed in Service

By Chief Larry Gaspar
1/2000 -- Chardon, Ohio
It is with great pride that the Chardon Fire Department christened a new 2000
Ferrara Fire Engine, by placing it in-service early to provide lighting power at
the Bostwick's Hardware Fire on 12/22/99. This advanced life support/paramedic
equipped engine will serve as our
front line attack engine, holding 1000 gallons of water. Engine
"3322" has foam capabilities, an AMPS electric generator, five-person
enclosed cab, jaws-of-life extrication equipment, and many other new
gadgets. It was purchased after painstaking work by the Chardon Fire
Department Truck Committee. Committee members made several trips down to
South Carolina to provide input into the building of the new engine.
