FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chardon gains new stretchers and valuable training through grant9/2001 - Chardon, OH The Chardon Fire Department recently purchased two Stryker heavy duty cots with monies obtained through a $14,000 Ohio State EMS Grant, issued to area departments in July. The cots replace a 1986 vintage cot, as well as a heavily worn cot from 1994. The cots have a variety of safety features, including a device to keep the cot from accidentally being lowered inadvertently. Additionally, the department is sending three staff members through Paramedic school. The total training cost for this schooling is over $9000 for three students. Additional FD funding will be used to send existing EMT's and medics to continuing education seminars.
