Claridon Mobile Home Fire is a complete loss

8/2003 - Chardon, OH         

Firefighters from Chardon, Burton, and Hambden Twp. responded to a 4am mobile home fire in Jacques Trailer Park in rural Claridon Twp. on August 3rd, 2003.  The unit was fully involved when crew arrived, however a quick 2 1/2" hose attack by the first arriving engine knocked down the fire quickly.  The mobile home next door to the fire unit was also damaged slightly.

The owner was home, and narrowly escaped with her life, being assisted by deputies and neighbors.  The mobile home was a total loss.  The fire is still under investigation, however careless smoking is suspected as the primary cause.  It is unknown whether there was a working smoke detector in the structure.
