Quilt raffle raises over $3000 for robot for use in child fire prevention education programs

Quilt Valued at over $1100 !!

UPDATE:  The winner of the quilt raffle was a Painesville woman, who wanted to stay anonymous.  The two cash prizes were won by Chardon area residents.  Over $2000 profit was made by the fire department, which will be used to purchase the Sparky Robot you see above right.

An anonymous donor spent many months sewing the beautiful red, white, and blue quilt (above), which raffled off in October.  It is entitled "Stars and Stripes".  The one-of-a-kind quilt, valued at $1100, was donated to the Chardon Volunteer Fire Department, with the intent to have us raffle it off as a fundraiser.  We decided to utilize the funds from this raffle towards the purchase of a robot (much like the one shown above right) that teaches small children about fire safety.  The robot costs around $8000, and will be used in our schools during fire prevention week, and other activities.

Special thanks to FF/Medic Scott Meyer and Debbie Micsky for their dedicated efforts to making the raffle so successful.  If you would like to donate to the robot fund, contact Scott Meyer at 440-286-2665 during business hours.
